This is a new spin on your regular City Walks where you, the travelers, get the chance to interact and do missions with a real local guide. You will learn stories, facts, legends and tips from him to use throughout your stay here.

- What if my travel plans change? Can I get a refund?No worries - we’ve got you! Simply contact us more than 24 hours before your tour and you can: • Reschedule to a new date, or • Put your booking on hold to use anytime in the future (our bookings never expire!) • Claim a full refund if contacted with more than 24 hours! Please note: Cancellations or changes made within 24 hours of the tour departure are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.
- Where does the tour stard and end?Our tour stars in front of the legendary Idno Culture House by the Reykjavik Pond and City Hall. The guide will show up around 10 minutes prior to the tour start time, wearing a backpack. The tour ends by Arnarhóll which is very centrally located.
- What is included in the tour?By booking the Becoming Icelandic City Walk you get to experience the city with a super fun local guide for roughly 2.5 hours! The guide will provide you with your very own becoming Icelandic passport full of fun, facts and missions to do along the way. On the tour you will get to try the world famous Icelandic hot dog if the line allows - if not, you will hear all about it and get a voucher valid for a hot dog any time during your stay!
- Is the tour wheelchair accessible?Generally speaking, the City Walk is not wheelchair accessible. It takes place sorely in foot and outside in all elements. If you have more questions, send us an email to info@wakeupreykjavik.com and we can advise! 🧡
- Is the walk difficult?The Becoming Icelandic City walk is a roughly 2.5 hour tour in the city center that walks around 3.5 km / 2.2 miles in total. As for difficulty, the tour would be rated at as an easy walk. However, there are some uphill parts and since the aim is to become Icelandic, we go out in all types of weather! If you are up for that, this tour is for you!
- My preferred date is sold out or not avaialble - what do I do?No problem! Send us a message via the contact form below or email us to info@wakeupreykjavik.com and we'll either be able to open up an additional departure or place you at the top of our wait list so you'll be the first to know if we receive any cancellations!
- How long is the tour?Our Becoming Icelandic Food Walk adventure is about 3 hours! Give or take 15 minutes depending on how fast the group moves and how kind the weather gods are that day!
- Will I get to try the Hot Dog?On the Becoming Icelandic City Walk, you will hear all about the famous Icelandic Hot Dog and why it's so famous! A part of the charm is that there are no reservations and everyone waits in like for one. Everyone. Even the president would need to. So if the line is to long, the guide will give you the history, facts and a voucher valid for a hot dog that you can use during your stay!
- Can I get something else instead of the Hot Dog?Sadly the Iconic hot dog stand only has Hot Dogs on their menu. Should you not be able to eat one, the guide can offer you a drink or chocolate instead!
