GLACIER SNOWMOBILE & ICE CAVE TOUR

The Guides were brilliant. It is about a 1.5-2 hour drive from Reykjavik to their base camp. We were assisted into our Snowsuits, balaclavas, helmets & snow boots . Our safety was always their top priority & making sure it was fun for us. The Guides gave us information about what we would see on the Glacier, they made sure we were comfortable handling the Snowmobiles & making sure everyone had their photos taken. There was Hot chocolate & biscuits waiting for us back at base camp once we returned!!! Wonderful. My Sisters & I had a fabulous time

This was an extraordinary adventure.
It started out well when our driver, Hans, was friendly, knowledgeable and super accommodating and then the day got better and better!

The team were experts at building our expectations step by step - the switch from a van to a super truck, the moment we headed off-road into the highlands, kitting out into our very flattering (!) snowsuits, the safety briefing, the drive up to the snowmobiles and finally the instructions and then whoosh... we were off.

There really isn't an adjective good enough to describe speeding across a glacier on a snowmobile. Hans challenged us to try without smiling - impossible!

We were warm, it felt safe but exhilarating and more fun than I can describe...

I should add that we had perfect weather and conditions and that certainly added to the joy.

I would add this to a must do list when in Iceland. I booked several tours and all were great, they had great communication, prompt pickups, wifi on all vehicles and great staff overall. The snowmobile experience included a visit to a small ice cave which was pretty unique. The guides assist you in an manner necessary and make sure all age groups are cared for. It’s a good distance from Reykjavík so be prepared with snacks and such. I would recommend Wake Up Reykjavik for any of your planned excursions, overall had a great experience with all the tours I booked through them!

The guides were brilliant. Do not be put off by the price, it is an excursion worth every penny. We have ridden quads before but you don’t have to be experienced as they gauge how experienced you are in a few minutes. Our guide, Ben, was that perfect local who gave my family and I a taste of Iceland that was packed with fun, laughter, and of course, food! We had such a wonderful time spending the evening meeting and dining with 8 other strangers who became more like old friends as we “restaurant-hopped” our way around town. Ben is equally personable as he is knowledgeable, and his humor kept us laughing throughout the entire evening!

The food selection was authentic and delicious. While the Arctic char was my personal favorite, tasting fermented shark alongside my fellow adventurous foodies was the most fun for sure. Thank you, Ben, for making this a highlight of our first visit to Iceland!

I am someone who generally loves food tours and this one did not disappoint! Our guide Thor was absolutely amazing and made us feel very comfortable and relaxed. Fantastic food, you will be full for the rest of the day after the tour. My dad who hates the idea of food tours begrudgingly came with us on this tour. Afterwards he raved about it and said it was amazing! I have two kids approximately 10 years old, they both loved the tour!

What can I say / this food tour is honestly one of the best I have ever been on! Our fabulous tour guide Dagur made the whole experience a strong 12/10. The restaurants that we went to was a perfect way to have a taste of all of the fabulous local cuisine Iceland has to offer (including fermented shark haha). What a great tour with an amazing guide, Ben. There is quite a bit of walking but we got a breather at each stop to taste some amazing food and drink. Ben was just great from start to finish, we were part of a small group, just the 4 of us and Ben but this made it even more enjoyable getting to know each other and share this amazing experience. All the food was lovely, we even did the fermented shark which was not as bad as expected so give it a go if you can. The tour lasted approx 3 hrs and was definitely worth the money due to the amount of food and some drink included, the rest we brought ourselves. A great tour with a great guide, well worth the money and definitely recommend.

I did the Food and Drink Adventure tour with Heidi last Friday. It was absolutely brilliant- I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. It was definitely a highlight of my trip. Heidi was a brilliant guide- extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The spots we went to were fabulous- there wasn’t a single dish I disliked, everything was so tasty! I particularly loved the horse! If you’re thinking of doing a food tour, do it! It was so much fun to try Icelandic food! And by the end of the night my husband and I became friends with everyone on the tour! Our next stop will be the magical Black Sand beach. Not only is the beach wonderfully beautiful … and the sand is black! But there are also very unique basaltic lava rock pillars that create the cliffs around the beach and that’s where puffins nest in during summer.

Another must visit stop on the Iceland South Coast is the beautiful coastal town of Vík. A lunch-break stop will be made either at the Reynisfjara beach or in the small town of Vík (depending on weather, timing and amount of people in the area). A wonderful tour with Berglind. The tour is well planned and scheduled, this company really lives up its slogan ”we’re not in a hurry”. The guide told us so much about Iceland while driving. Because the weather was so good, Berglind made an extra stop on top of a cliff with a stunning view to the sea and the surroundings. So we got actually more than what we had paid for <3

The first stop is usually, Thingvellir national park. There you will encounter the birth place of the Icelandic nation and the site of the oldest still standing parliament in the world. It was the first viking parliament or Althingi and was founded on 930 a.d. In Thingvellir you can also walk on ‘no-mans land’ as it is also one of the spots where we can appreciate more clearly the forces shaping our planet as the tectonic plates spread apart and separate Europe from N-America.

Another of the visits during the Golden Circle is Gullfoss waterfall which is without a doubt, one of the prettiest waterfalls in Iceland, and that’s a lot for a country with as many waterfalls as Iceland.

Next, it is the indescribable geothermal area, Geysir which get’s its name from the boiling hot water that it gushes high up in the air. Today, the original Geysir hasn’t been active for years but his neighbor, Strokkur, blows hot steam high in the air every 5 to 10 minutes for our delight. Truly a remarkable sight!

You will also take a short stop at the town of Hveragerdi, where you’ll find a small exhibition about a 6,3-6,6 earthquake that took place in the town in 2008.

 
The waterfall at Faxi is also part of the tour. Smaller than Gullfoss, but very beautiful in the morning light. When conditions allow, the tour will also try to stop to admire some of the famously friendly Icelandic horses.
