This tour was the highlight of our time in Reykjavik. Our guide, Stefan, was fun, engaging, and informative. We ate delicious food and learned a lot about the culture and traditions of Iceland as we enjoyed our many stops around the city. Although I resolved I would never try the shark, by the end of the tour, I was so immersed in all things Icelandic, I was enthusiastic to try this traditional dish. My 10-year-old loved the tour too! We had a private group of friends ranging from age 8-55+, and all of us had a blast. Do yourself a favor and book this tour NOW!
There were 8 of us and ended up booking a private tour which was great. Hilda was a fantastic guide, gave us interesting information on Iceland and the restaurants were great! We all loved this tour!
My first day in Iceland was kicked off with this tour with Ben and I will tell everyone who goes to Iceland that this is hands down how they need to spend their first day in Reykjavik. It was the perfect way to get the layout of the city and a great taste for the amazing food scene. Ben was an instant friend and an amazing guide- we “joked” about all pooling our money to get him a flight to the US for my brother’s wedding. This was a 30/10 and can’t recommend the tour enough. We had a big enough group for a private tour, which was absolutely worth the bit of extra $ and if you happen to be EXTRA lucky, you’ll end up with Ben as your guide.
I would recommend this food tour to anyone with time in iceland! some of the best food i’ve had + got to learn about the culture from a local. ben was absolutely the best tour guide! if you have a group the private tour is well worth it!
We were a bit weary of booking this tour because of the price, but the reviews convinced us to do it. The other reviews were accurate: you won't leave hungry! (And make sure to come hungry!) We got to try two menu items (pre-selected by the tour operator) at each of the restaurants we visited - included in the price. If we tried to go to each restaurant and order the same selection it would have cost way more. Plus! We had a private tour guide (for us plus the other 10 guests). Our guide, Ben, was fantastic. He made excellent recommendations, was able to answer everyone's questions, and really heightened the experience.
This is a fantastic tour! I've done many food walk tours in several different cities and this one definitely ranks among the best. Our guide Ben handled our private group of 16 with ease and professionalism. He was funny and knowledgeable and kept us on a good pace. The food offerings were all delicious (except for the fermented shark, but hey, you've got to try it right?) The portions were generous so show up hungry!

Can I get a refund?No worries - we’ve got you covered! 🥳 For the Private Reykjavik Food Walk, simply contact us more than 72 hours before your tour and you can: • Reschedule to a new date, or • Put your booking on hold to use anytime in the future (our bookings never expire!) If you prefer, we’re also happy to provide a full refund with more than 72 hours’ notice. Please note: Cancellations or changes made within 72 hours of the tour departure are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.
- Can you accommodate dietary restrictions or allergies?n the Reykjavik Food Walk, we do everything we can to accommodate dietary restrictions and/or allergies :) We can easily arrange alternative options for our vegetarian and pescatarian guests and for gluten & lactose intolerants. Nuts, seeds, fruits & shellfish are also easy to avoid. If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, please let us know in the 'special requests' section when you book and we will accommodate you the best we can! Vegans are more than welcome in our tour but unfortunately, the traditional Icelandic cuisine is not very welcoming for a vegan diet.
- How long is the tour?Our Private Reykjavik Food Walk is approx. 3 hours! Give or take 15 minutes depending on how fast the group moves and how kind the weather gods are that day!
- What makes the private tour different from the regular Reykjavík Food Walk?The route and core food experience are similar, but this tour is exclusively for your group with your own dedicated guide, included drinks, more flexibility and a much more personal atmosphere 🥳
- Is the private fee charged per person?No - the 87,500 ISK private fee is charged once per booking, regardless of group size. Per-person pricing is 18,900 ISK in addition. Example for 4 guests: 18,900 × 4 guests + 87,500 = 163,100 ISK total
